Goals

Professional:

To get educators talking about how children can learn at a higher level. Making time for teachers to process their learning and to discuss and plan how to transfer it to the classroom to impact on student success in school. I hope to do this by taking an inventory of all the PD received by teachers and then using the available data to identify student learning needs, decide which PD will be most appropriate to help teachers achieve their goals, and support them to implement chosen initiatives effectively.

Personal learning:

To learn as much as possible about the two very unique communities that I will be serving, in order to offer them the best, most tailored support possible.

Why are you part of the Lead Data Team?

It works like a professional learning community.  It’s important to keep learning and to keep current. Being part of the LDT helps me to know about various structures that are in place across the province to facilitate collaboration. We have people from different boards that bring so many different perspectives and make my work so much richer.  It’s my PD time and my time to improve my practices and reflect on how to bring the information back to my teaching staff and to consider how to integrate it into practice.

What could you spend hours talking about?

I could spend hours talking about how to use evidence in practice. It’s my passion.  How can we make claims without backing them up? What do we use to back up our claims...what constitutes evidence? I love having the discussion about what the is data telling us...
